The way Jordan Peterson has been treated by the media class from day 1 is highly symptomatic of where we are as a culture. The fact is that a powerful minority want men to be weak, incompetent and feeble. They don't understand that in doing so they are sowing the seeds of their own and our entire society's downfall.
Thank you KK. This is something that has been astonishing to me. J to the B (Peterson) does so much to promote good mental health. For this, he has been pilloried. I'm a woman, and I have grown so much from listening to his podcasts and reading his words. As a clinical social worker, I recommend his 12 rules for young men a lot. My colleagues don't like him. Funny, though, that back when I was on Facebook and posted his rules without numbers or reference, such as, "Make friends with people who want the best for you" - his rules got big love and likes. From the same people who profess to call him toxic and Patriarchal. Forget that he has helped a lot of young women to negotiate higher salaries. Oh well. Call me a bigot. I'm in camp JBP for the win.
Pam, JP does not seem "completely lost, devastated and broken" to me. I just see that he is much more in touch with his emotions and not embarrassed to show them since his illness. I see him as a man who like many of us, sees the darkness overtaking the world and at times is brought to tears at the suffering this causes to others. I admire his strength, his commitment to truth and his acknowledgement of the hill he is prepared to die on. Perfect? Of course not.
In Critical Theory, which is the root epistemology of all this WOKEness, is to attack the underpinnings of Western Society. One of the main historical and social underpinnings of Western Society are Men, and most of its accomplishments have come from Men, therefore it is logical from an epistemology that wishes to destroy Western Society and all it stands for is to demonize and demolish Men. Western Society therefore becomes more passive, more defensive, less enlightened and as KK says more vulnerable to societies that have not demonized their Men. JBP is trying to reverse this, ergo JBP needs to be attacked.
I'm pretty sure the ruling class attacks any and all expressions of healthy masculinity for the same reasons that farmers castrate bulls and pet owners neuter dogs and cats: (1) population control and (2) emasculated males are more docile and easily kept in their enclosures. Of course, as you pointed out, if men are actively discouraged from healthy expressions of masculinity, many will veer towards unhealthy versions of it.
I fail to understand why JP is so triggering to so many. Much of what he writes or says is being taken out of context. His podcasts and writing seem mostly like common sense and yet provoke hysteria. His compassion for humans is so obvious. Who cares if his audience skews male? Is Oprah criticized because her audience skews female?
👍 Well said KK. J to the B to the ever-lovin' P provides a crucial balance against the negativity and divisiveness of those who have taken over much of current toxic agendas.

I agree totally with Lisa. I do fear that we are watching a very intelligent and deeply emotional man crack more and more with every You Tube appearance he makes. My son believes he is pretentious and taking us back to the 1940s and 50s where men and women had their set roles to play and this comes across as regressive and unhelpful. I feel he has missed the point with JP. For someone like my son to call someone pretentious when he is one of the most pretentious of men, is rather chucklesome! I feel sad for JP, he is a good man who I can hardly watch now because he seems to be completely lost, devastated and broken. Sad.
